Plot[edit]
One year following the demise of Zeref and Acnologia, Natsu Dragneel and his team from the Fairy Tail wizard guild embark to the northern continent of Guiltina for the '100 Years Quest', a mission that has been unaccomplished for over a century. The team learns that their mission is to seal the Five Dragon Gods, a group of dragons whose power threatens to cause worldwide destruction if left unchecked. Meanwhile, Fairy Tail recruits a new member named Touka, who is discovered to be a century-old witch with an evil alter ego called the White Mage. Aiming to seize the dragons' powers for her own purposes, the White Mage travels to Guiltina and comes into conflict with Natsu's team.
Characters[edit]
- Touka (トウカ, Tōka) /White Mage (白魔道士, Shiro Madōshi, 'White Wizard')
Touka and the White Mage are the alternate personalities of a century-old witch and leader of Rebellious,[Jp. 1] a cult that aims to erase everything in existence through white magic. Because of this, she is considered to be a counterpart to Zeref, the Black Wizard, and just as dangerous. Touka is a pure-hearted girl who joins Fairy Tail after being seemingly enamored with Natsu Dragneel, who previously saved her from bandits during his training journey, but is later revealed to be a transformed Exceed with affection for Happy, whose name she has confused with Natsu's. However, Touka's true intentions are to seek Fairy Tail's help with exorcising the White Mage, who uses the ability to steal magic from others, allowing her to use it for herself, erase it, or control their minds.
- Elefseria (エレフセリア, Erefuseria)
Elefseria is the founding master of Magia Dragon,[Jp. 2] Earth-land's first wizard guild, located on the northern continent of Guiltina. He serves as Fairy Tail's client for the 100 Years Quest, which he issued following a failed attempt at defeating the Five Dragon Gods by teaching himself Dragon Slayer magic, resulting in his transformation into a dragon. As such, he has remained alive for the 160 years since making his request, using magic to assume his original human appearance.
- Five Dragon Gods
The Five Dragon Gods[Jp. 3] are a group of dragons who survived the Dragon King Festival by fleeing to Guiltina to hide from Acnologia. Since then, they are each considered to be as strong as Acnologia, and are viewed as deities by Guiltina's citizens. Several of the dragons have demonstrated the ability to assume humanoid forms. To prevent them from causing a potential catastrophe, the object of the 100 Years Quest is for wizards to seal the dragons away, which Natsu's team discovers they can accomplish by forcing them to expend their magic.
- Mercphobia (メルクフォビア, Merukufobia) is the Water Dragon God,[Jp. 4] worshiped by the people of the seaside town Ermina for his power over the ocean. He is a peaceful being who abandoned his cruel and violent nature after befriending a human girl named Karameel, whom he lives with in human form. However, his diminishing control over his magic causes the tide to submerge Ermina at night, leading him to transform its citizens into fish to help them survive. After falling under the White Mage's control, he goes on a mindless rampage in his serpentine dragon form until he is defeated by Natsu, which permanently turns him into a powerless human.
- Ignia (イグニア, Igunia) is the Fire Dragon God[Jp. 5] and Igneel's biological son, who is notorious in Guiltina for burning down countless countries. He is uncaring of his father's death due to being raised by his mother, and trained himself to defeat Acnologia to test his own strength, rather than to avenge Igneel. Upon learning of Natsu's victory over Acnologia, Ignia becomes determined to mold Natsu into a worthy opponent for himself, disappointed by his reliance on his friends' power.
- Aldoron (アルドロン, Arudoron) is the Wood Dragon God[Jp. 6] and the world's largest dragon, bearing a gargantuan tree and five of Guiltina's cities on his body, with the biggest and capital city, Draseel, resting on top of his right hand. Each city houses an orb that contains his power. He also has the ability to read others' minds.
- Selene (セレーネ, Serēne) and Viernes (ビエルネス, Bierunesu) are the Moon Dragon God[Jp. 7] and Gold Dragon God,[Jp. 8] respectively; the former has control over celestial bodies, while the latter's powers are unknown.
- Diabolos
Diabolos[Jp. 9] is a guild of 'fifth-generation' Dragon Slayers called 'Dragon Eaters' who gain their abilities by consuming dragons. Led by Georg Reisen (ゲオルグ・ライゼン, Georugu Raizen), the guild comes into conflict with Fairy Tail over the Five Dragon Gods, whose power is desired by the Dragon Eaters. Diabolos' other members include Kiria (キリア), who creates magical blades from her hands that can cut through anything; Madmole (マッドモール, Maddomōru), an armored man with an indestructible body; Skullion Raider (スカリオン・レイダー, Sukarion Reidā), who uses ash-based magic to create and disintegrate objects; Nebal (ネバル, Nebaru), who has spider-like abilities; and Wraith (レイス, Reisu), a ghost whose existence is imperceptible to everyone except other Dragon Slayers.

Production[edit]
Following the conclusion of Fairy Tail on July 26, 2017, Hiro Mashima posted a tweet on April 5, 2018 announcing that sequel to the series was being developed as a spin-off manga, although he did not specify that he would be returning as the illustrator.[1] On June 27, Mashima announced that the manga was tentatively titled Fairy Tail Zokuhen (FAIRY TAIL続編, lit. 'Fairy Tail Sequel'),[2] which was confirmed on July 4 to be drawn by Atsuo Ueda with original storyboards provided by Mashima.[3]

Natsu Dragneel and his team embark on Fairy Tail's 100 Years Quest issued over a century ago by Magia Dragon, the first and oldest wizard guild in existence, which is located on the northern continent of Guiltina. The guild's master, a formerly human Dragon Slayer named Elefseria, instructs the team to subdue fabled creatures called the Five Dragon Gods, each rumored to rival the power of Acnologia. The team travels to the city of Ermina in search of the water dragon god, Mercphobia; in the process, they encounter a trio of Dragon Slayers called Dragon Eaters from the Diabolos guild, who intend to gain Mercphobia's magic by devouring him. Mercphobia appears in a humanoid form to end the guilds' fighting, revealing that a century-old witch called the White Mage has already stolen much of his power, which he requests Natsu's team to help him recover before he loses control of his remaining magic. Back in Magnolia, Fairy Tail recruits a young woman and admirer of Natsu named Touka, who arouses Gajeel Redfox's suspicions when she mentions Briar, one of Avatar's members. Meanwhile, Jellal Fernandez warns the other guilds against making contact with Touka, whom he identifies as the White Mage.

The Diabolos trio decide to target the White Mage for Mercphobia's power, defeating Natsu's team and injuring Mercphobia. Lucy Heartfilia escapes and encounters Brandish μ, who, like Lucy, is searching Guiltina for Aquarius's key. Brandish helps Fairy Tail by beaching Diabolos's ship atop a hill, helping Lucy's imprisoned friends fight back against the trio, who retreat after threatening to retaliate with the rest of Diabolos. Shortly afterward, Mercphobia loses control of himself and assumes his dragon form, mindlessly rampaging across Ermina. Natsu's team reluctantly attempt to kill Mercphobia, but they are overwhelmed by his godlike power. Meanwhile, Jellal confronts Touka over her identity as the White Mage and founder of Rebellious, a malevolent white magic cult opposite of Avatar that steals others' magic, but she is defended by Laxus Dreyar. When Fairy Tail begins to question Touka's background, however, the White Mage reveals herself to be Touka's alternate personality and attacks Jellal, only to be suppressed by Touka, who is captured by Gajeel. While Touka is interrogated at Fairy Tail's guildhall, the White Mage takes over again and steals the magic of everyone in the building.
